Wellington Chamber of Commerce

PURPOSE STATEMENT
To enhance Wellington's economic prosperity and to retain a high "quality of life" for citizens by attracting retirees to the Wellington area.

GOALS
Advertise and participate in events that will promote Wellington as a place to retire

Contact Area College (alumni groups) to encourage placing of pertinent information in the publications and newsletters
Use local media to promote information about the work of Retirement Recruitment Committee
Work with Membership Committee during Chamber Week to introduce new retirees to the Chamber of Commerce Redesign and promote the DIPLOMAT program
Make presentations to community organizations
Accompany prospective residents on short tours of Wellington
Keep records of scheduled presentations and tours - and give to committee members each month for their information files. Initiate the collection of information to establish an Elderhostel in Wellington
Use the Internet for information
Invite retirees who have attended Elder hostels to speak to the committee
Create a notebook-file of Elderhostel information. This file to be kept in the Chamber Offices. Copies should be made and distributed to members of the committee

BENEFIT STATEMENT
Retirees will increase Wellington's capital resources and purchasing power and will enhance the overall economic well-being of our community. In addition to the economic impact retirees have, they also will bring experience, knowledge, and a willingness to participate in this community.
