On November 2, 2010, Marcia Andrews was elected to the Palm Beach County School Board for District 6, taking office on November 16, 2010. Marcia is a dedicated professional with 35 years of experience as an educator in the Palm Beach County School District. Her passion for helping others led her into the field of teaching at the middle school level, and through the years she has served as an Assistant Principal, Principal, Director, and Chief Officer of Human Resources. After retirement, Marcia started volunteering in the community and later founded her company Up Front Consulting, LLC. Marcia grew up in Palm Beach County and graduated from Roosevelt High School. She holds a Bachelor degree in Education from Florida Atlantic University and a Master degree in Administration and Supervision from Nova University. She enjoyed teaching her students and worked hard to make sure they were successful. Marcia wants to continue to be a change agent for building better schools and community relations. As a School Board member, Marcia’s focus is on student academics and personal achievement. Marcia works closely with the Superintendent and the School Board to assure policies are in place that meet the needs for our students’ success. Marcia is actively involved with the Educational Advisory Board in the communities of District 6. Marcia visits schools and is available to assist Area Superintendents, principals, teachers, and staff. She is always available to assist parents. As of 2012, she established a School Board members’ satellite office in the Glades where School Board meetings are simulcast as well. Marcia’s work with the School Board is highlighted by the approval of the School Board to build three new schools for the Glades area. One school, Gove Elementary, opened August 2013. Two additional schools, Gladeview Elementary and Rosenwald Elementary are scheduled to open January 2015. Mrs. Andrews has and continues to hold leadership roles in education, community, social, and civic organizations. Her work has been highlighted through numerous honors received from many groups. Marcia currently sits on the board of the following organizations: 15th Circuit Juvenile Justice Board; Palm Beach County Communities In Schools, and Take Stock In Children. She stays connected with businesses in District 6 with membership in the Central Palm Beach County Chamber of Commerce, Wellington Chamber of Commerce, and Belle Glade Chamber of Commerce. Mrs. Andrews has been married to Robert Andrews for 42 years and has one daughter, who is a teacher, and five grandchildren. She has been a resident of the western communities for 27 years. She enjoys tennis, exercising and Jogging.
